The Palruuni are a form of People of uncertain origins, though it is clear that they, like all People, descend from the Original Folk. It is believed by some that they are descended from a break-off group of Pahmsruun, while others believe it is the Pahmsruun who actually coalesced from a sub-group of the Palruuni. Still others believe their presence around Somewhere Else far predates the sailing of the Pahmsruun from Mount Taurikip. In any case, their identity now remains distinct and, alongside the similarly diverse Teakani, they are arguably the most diverse form of People in Karamay.

Like the Teakani, they are highly diverse and their identities tend to be tied primarily to their culture or historical homelands.
