Affixes are morphemes appended at the beginning, middle, and/or end of a word (i.e. attached to the other morpheme(s) comprising it) to alter or deepen its meaning.

Prefixes

Prefixes are affixes that attach at the beginning of a word.

Infixes

Infixes are affixes that attach in the inner contents of a word. Transfixes are a specific type of affix broken into more than one portion with each one going in a different segment of the word.

Suffixes

Suffixes are affixes that attach at the end of a word.

Circumfixes

Circumfixes are affixes involving an addition at both the beginning and end of a word.
