Lynguistykon: Miscellaneous Affixes

This page contains various affixes found in one or more of the languages of Somewhere Else, and is intended to be able to help search for an affix quickly without knowing its language, as opposed to informing on the affixes from only one language. The same affixes (affixes with the same meaning composed of the same letters or phonemes) may be found in multiple languages, or similar-seeming affixes composed of the same letters or phonemes may actually have different meanings in different languages. Likewise, some affixes may have clear linguistic origins while others may have unclear or disputed origins. Therefore the intended or true meaning of a word in certain contexts, for instance of the names of places, may be unclear.

Note that it is often the case that an affix or base from an original language is adapted into another language but with a slight change in spelling/pronunciation. In that case either the most common used version or the original language version, if known, will be what is found here, and a language's adapted version can likely be found on that respective language's Affixes page.
