The oldest version of the Encyclopedia of Somewhere Else goes back further than People know. The author of the earliest known edition was The Librarian, but its now popularly circulated descendants, like this one, have had contributions from a number of authors. Other than the printed copies of The Librarian's original volumes, this edition is considered the definitive copy of the Somewhere Else Encyclopedia. Uniquely, it allows authors from many backgrounds to contribute to it openly. However, each must agree to follow the guidelines of the Encyclopedia, and its chief editor remains The Librarian, who somehow continues to input now.

Guidelines

  • For any contributors beyond the curator (The Librarian), what is being covered in the Encyclopedia must already exist in known material from Somewhere Else. The intention of this Encyclopedia is to inform about Somewhere Else, not to speculate new information of it. There are valued areas for speculation and imagination about Somewhere Else, but the Encyclopedia volumes are not those areas.
  • When adding a new page entry to the Encyclopedia, please add it in its proper category and title it accordingly, following the formatting set out in the rest of the wiki, and please also add an entry that directly links to that page. Note that like other volumes, the Atlas uses subcategories, but unlike them it does not use them for page titles. The proper formatting for page titles and for the information to add at the bottom of each entry to categorize them is below.
 Volume_(Subcategory, if applicable):_Title
 Atlas:_Title
 [[Category: Volume]] [[Category: Volume (Subcategory)]]
  • So for example, if you were the one to add the page about Tolyk to the encyclopedia, you would title the page "Lorebook (People): Tolyk", and at the bottom of the page you would add "[[Category: Lorebook]] [[Category: Lorebook (People)]]" . You would also create a page entry titled simply "Tolyk" and set it to redirect to the Tolyk entry by adding "#REDIRECT [[Lorebook (People): Tolyk]]" as the page's contents. And for example, if adding a page about a burg named Sampleburg to the encyclopedia, you would name it "Atlas: Sampleburg" and at the bottom of the page you would add "[[Category: Atlas]] [[Category: Atlas (Burgs)]]". You would also create a page entry titled simply "Sampleburg" and set it to redirect to the Sampleburg atlas entry by adding "#REDIRECT [[Atlas: Sampleburg]]" as the page's contents.
